1)  Four person teams. Men play from the Blue or White Tees - choice is players - as we want you to play tees that are most comfortable to you
2)  Ladies play from the Red Tees or Lavender Tees [again your choice]
3)  Each player tees off on each hole.
4)  The best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot except the player whose drive was selected - that person can only use a putter from that spot !
5)  The best of the second shots is determined, then all play their third shots in same manner as second shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is on the green and then all 4 players may putt.
6)  All shots must be played from the same locale and conditions as the shot selected. On all shots players may lift, clean and place their ball up to one club length, no closer to the hole without improving their lie [if in the rough or sand etc. you stay in the rough or sand etc.] except on putting surface where you should be within a club head of spot.
7)  Prizes for men closest to the hole and for the ladies closest to the hole.
8)  Tournament winners to be determined by the committee based on best team name made up while playing and marked on score card, apparel - the redder, louder and more Canadian the better and lastly and least important team score.
9)  To register, email your name(s) and handicaps [or give us an idea of your ability so we can match teams fairly to or call Dave Horsman 750-0889.

February 19th - Leafs vs Tampa Bay Lightning in Tampa

With the NHL back in action we have booked 55 first level seats at the Tampa Bay Forum to see the hometown Tampa Bay Lightning take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7:30 pm Tuesday February 19, 2013.
The cost for the game ticket and bus is $65 per person.
Please notify us as soon as possible if you would like to attend by (clicking->) emailing Karen Morrison our event co-ordinator or Tel - (352) 674-9251 or back to us and we will forward and advise how you can get the monies to her as she has charged the tickets and the bus to her personal credit card.
Buss will leave at 4:30 that day and be back in The Villages approximately 2 hours after the game ends.
If you are a Leaf fan this is a great opportunity to cheer them on and if you are not - you can become a Tampa Bay fan which is easy to do once you watch Steve Stamkos play a shift or 2.

L&T members were treated to a great February special event meeting with 300 to 400 people attending, including 40 new members who heard Jerry Gironda from the Royal Bank of Canada detail what has happened since the transition of RBC from a brick and mortar bank to a virtual bank and how they are now conducting business.  David Altro from Altro Law in Montreal [offices in Toronto, Vancouver, Florida and Arizona] - author of the books Owning US Real Estate "The Canadian Way", explained the different options of owning property in the US and what validity we have with our Canadian Wills and Powers of Attorney documents.

We had a very successful 50/50 collecting $ 560.  We distributed three $75 prizes to Edmund Pfahl of Ottawa, Ont.; Brian MacLennan hailing from Burlington, Ont; and Dwight Johnson here from Berwick, NS. and our special Moncton Bankroll Prize of 55 one dollar bills to Roy Israelson who resides in Kingston, Ont. when not here.

Jerry Gironda graciously donated 2 sets of Tampa Bay Lightning Tickets for March 7 against the Winnipeg Jets. The winners were Matt Bray, London, Ont. and Carol Clarke of London, Ont.

March is our tournament month consisting of our 3rd annual golf tournament on March 11 at Eagle Ridge - wait list signups are still being taken and our 2nd annual Bunko Tournament on March 13 at La Hacienda run by Heather and Herman Janssen and Belle and Howard Kizell - hope to see you at one of these events.

January 30th - Canadian Snowbird Extravaganza in Lakeland

We are going to organize a bus trip to this event for January 30, 2013 - Pat and I attended last year with our spouses and experienced a great event that featured legendary Canadian Entertainers like, Rich Little, Peter Appleyard, Jimmy Flynn, Bowser and Blue, Frank Mills and others - this year The Toronto All Star Big Band will join the cast of entertainment [and then follow up with a performance at the Church in the Square on January 31]. We were able to enjoy all of the acts as they each have 2 shows a day in 2 different venues at the exposition center.
The Extravaganza also features a table top exhibit for vendors who have services and products aimed at making our snowbird existence in Florida more enjoyable.
We now (Jan 5) have 2 buses and room for about 30 more people - so if you having been thinking about it let me know as soon as possible- the cost is $ 20 per person for round trip bus ride to Lakeland leaving at 8 am and getting back about 6 pm - admission to the Extravaganza is complimentary.

A great time was had by all.

January 31st - Toronto All Star Band

Swing, Swing, Swing! Featuring The Toronto All-Star Big Band - A Rousing Presentation by the TORONTO ALL-STAR BIG BAND! Immerse yourself in this delectable smorgasbord of swing music as only trumpets, "bones", "phones", drums, keys and great vocals can deliver! Armed with brilliant programming, slick choreography and witty cultural nostalgia, this vibrant cast of awesome young talent has earned its position at the top of the list of presenters throughout Ontario and in the U.S.

Attendees reported that it was a great show, wouldn't have missed it for the world and would go back and see it again if they get the chance.

March 22nd - Take me out to the Ball Game

Our 3rd annual trip to Dunedin this year to see the Toronto Blue Jays in Spring Training will be Friday March 22, 2013 play against American League Eastern Division rivals -Boston Red Sox.
The Blue Jays this year promise to be contenders for not only the playoffs but also World Series with all of the exiting off season trades and acquisitions they have made.
We have reserved 57 tickets along the first base side under the canopy [last 2 years it got a wee bit hot where we sat] and have reserved a bus for the trip. The cost this year is $ 50 which includes the bus trip and game ticket - we are hoping to once again play some sort of trivia game on the ride down to Dunedin.
Please contact me by email (<-Click ) or sign up starting this Wednesday at our January meeting - you can either pay cash or by cheque [made out to Dave Horsman -as all has been charged to my personal credit card].
